Dr. Yang, born in 1967, obtained a Bachelor of Medicine degree from Soochow University in 1990, a Master degree in surgery from Capital Medical University in 1996, and a Doctor degree in rehabilitation medicine from Capital Medical University in 2014.
After graduation, Dr Yang worked in Department of Spinal Surgery in China Rehabilitation Research Center, as a surgeon, mainly engaged in traumatic spinal injuries, spinal degenerative disorders, and partially in neural rehabilitation. Dr Yang, as an important initiator, established the Department of Spinal and Neural Function Reconstruction in China Rehabilitation Research Center, and became its vice director in 2009. Dr Yang became the vice director of Center of Neural Injury and Repair, Beijing Institute for Brain Disorders in 2013.
Dr Yang is also a core member of Branch of Spinal Injury, China Association of Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons, and Branch of Spinal Rehabilitation, Chinese Medical Doctor Association.
Dr. Yang specializes in the treatment of traumatic spinal injuries, complications following spinal cord injury, and respiratory dysfunction of patients with high cervical spinal cord injury. Especially in the respiratory dysfunction, two innovative surgical techniques, reconstruction of thoracic and abdominal breaths using spinal accessory nerve and trapizus muscles for high cervical spinal cord injury, were developed by Dr Yang himself. Dr Yang also conducted a series of clinic studies involved in neural repair and regeneration. In addition, Dr Yang is the first to report that the lithium medicine could relieve the neuropathic pain after spinal cord injuries.
