Shibi Lu
Shibi Lu, male, born in July1930. Enrolled in The department of biology, National Tsinghua University In 1947, and from 1952 he studied in Peking Union Medical College (eight-year clinical medicine program). He is now the director of Orthopedic Research Institute of PLA(301Hospital) and a doctoral tutor. In 1996, he became The Academician member from the Chinese Academy of Engineering. From 1991, he honoured the Special Allowance form the Chinese Govenment. In 1995, he won the National  Award of  Guang Hua Foundation for Science and Technology, and in 1996, he was awarded the Great Contribution on the of the First Award of China Military Science and Technology, and one year after, gained the Advanced Award of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, for Science and Technology Hong Kong.
Prof. Lu has practiced medicine for more than 40 years. He got great deal clinical experience in the field of orthopedics and has achived excellent contributions. He is the first person in China design and develop the domestic cemented and cementless endoprosthesis, which has been widely used in China for total hip replacement. He has been constantly engaged in the research of peripheral nerve injury and repair.New  compression injury of nerve ,neurotropism in nerue regeneration. and acellular nerve allografting are very contributive. He developed surgical treatment of scoliosis with Shape Memory Alloy, opening up the research of biocompatibility and biomechanics of this alloy and medical science in the world. He useds microwave hyperthermia method to treat the  malignant bone tumor. He also lend a series of research on bone growth, tissue engineering in bone and cartilage and peripheral nerve.which are significant in the treatment of bone fracture, joint diseases, joint injury and nerve repair. He is also the first person who established the freeze-dried bone bank in China.
Prof. Lu is also in charge with many nation al wide research projects, including the 863 Projects, National Natural Science Foundation of China, and projects of “8-5”, “9-5”, and “10-5” planning. Because of these fruitful achievements, he was awarded the Golden Award on the National Science and Technology Conference; 2 Awards on the First Award of National Science and Technology Progress and the Second Award of National Science and Technology Progress 1 time. He also won the First Award of Military Medical Science and Technology Progress 3 times and the Second Award of Military Medical Science and Technology Progress 12 times. The armed forces awarded him the Second Grade Merit 1 time and The Third Grade Merit 4 times. Prof. Lu has published 380 clincal and research papers in domestic and international journals, 17 books editioned, and translated version of an English monograph and an English serial books. Up to now, he has tutoried 14 masters degree students 25 doctors al degree stutends.and 4 post doctorates.
